Starting today, I am going to try to read one new blog every day for 30 days.
I don’t want to waste hours of time looking for new blogs to read. I simply want to look for some new blogs to enjoy. What I would like to do is to find blogs that are worth subscribing to.
I had to define the terms of what qualifies as “new blog” and “reading,” so here they are:
- If I’ve read one post or less then it still qualifies as a new blog. I just didn’t want to rule out something because I’ve stumbled across it before, so I left in the ability to count it if I’ve read a single post before.
- To qualify as having read it, I need to read a minimum of 5 posts, most likely the most recent 5 on the front page. It doesn’t really matter which 5 though. I think 5 posts is enough to get a flavor for if it’s a worthwhile site or not.
- If something is so bad that I can’t even stomach 5 posts, then I still haven’t read a new blog yet that day, and I need to move on to another one.
So, in order to find new blogs that are worthwhile, I need your help in suggesting them. I want something interesting, engaging, and either riotously funny, or useful. “Useful” would mean that I learn something.
What I don’t want is your BFFs blog that you only read because it’s your BFF, or anything along those lines. Think, “Will FIAR say, “Holy shit! I can’t fuckin’ believe I never read this before,” and will it be so awesome that the gratuitous profanity is absolutely necessary in that exclamation?
I also don’t want political or news blogs - Unless the writer is more sharp tongued than Misha, or funnier than FrankJ, I don’t care.
Help me in my 30 day mission to read a new blog every day. Suggest away.
Next month I’ll let you know what I’ve added to my subscriptions. You could also stay tuned in to my update by Subscribing to Radioactive Liberty.

Big White Hat makes me think. He tells good stories, also. Might not be your cup of java, though.

I thought this guy’s Citizen Kane on YouTube was pretty freaking funny.
A Panel of Experts is hella funny too.
Sorry Diesel, your comment got sent to moderation for containing two links. Thanks for the suggestion. ~FIAR

Just an suggestion: Why not go to someone on your blogroll and just randomly choose someone on theirs. They are obviously there on the sidebars for a reason. You might come across some good reads.
That’s actually how I found you, Fitch. I was at Wyatt’s and started reading some of the blogs on his blogroll when I first starting blogging. I’ve been coming to your place on and off ever since.
BTW, I like your idea and may steal it and post about it on my blog - with credit given to you of course.

I agree with Katie. I did the same thing a few months ago and pimped the ones I liked. Then I chose a couple and put them on my sidebar. I visit other sites from the sidebars of other blogs (usually your site and Wyatt’s).
I got to your site from Wyatt.

I think you should by-pass this idea entirely and just watch tv. That’s what I would do if I were you, but I’m not, so I won’t, because I’m not you, so I can’t. But you should.
