An Iceberg Did Attack
I told you last summer this would happen. Remember this post?
Based on the true-life, over-hyped story by the media, Attack of The Iceberg pits man against a broken-off piece of a glacier in Greenland that threatens to possibly move very, very slowly towards shipping lanes.
Yeah, I know, I was kidding. But then reality recently happened.
An iceberg floated into Newfoundland’s Goose Cove, from that same big ice chunk that broke away from Greenland a year ago by the way.
Snowflake, the dis-enchanted polar bear gansta from the movie was not on the iceberg.
And let’s not discount the menace factor here.
“Icebergs float in from Greenland,” said the photographer, Gene Patey. This one briefly blocked the town’s harbor before breaking apart and melting, “but the fishermen took their chances.”
Took their chances? It’s an iceberg. Not being able to get out of the way of it would be like saying the security guard could not get out of the way of the steamroller in the first Austin Powers movie.

I am ranting completely off subject here, O wait, Anthropomorphic Global Warming is a complete hoax…
The House(people) passed a bill (the second one) Last week, and the person in charge of the Senate, tossed it in the trash without offering it up for an open vote before the forum (Senate).
How is it that one person can have the power to refuse the opportunity for an open vote, after it has been placed before them by the people? Where is that in my Constitution? I can’t find it.
Sure, the Present-dent has the power to veto, but what in the Constitution gives the leader of the Senate the power to refuse to put before the Senate a bill passed by the House?

I couldn’t agree with you more regarding the “global warming hoax”. Are we really gonna believe 97% of the world’s scientists when they say that there is no doubt that humans are creating the largest CO2 increase in the history of the planet. What the heck do they know? They have wasted their entire lives studying silly stuff like chemistry, biochemistry, geology, climatology, biology, and concepts like the scientific method. Do you really think these smarty pants know more than our honest politicians and right wing talking heads? I put my trust in people with no science degrees and a history of taking bribes from polluting industries. I know they have my best interest always in mind.

@Eric: Message heard. I’ll do some non-climate change stuff soon
Gary: The climate change theory does not follow the scientific method for many reasons. First, because all the factors that involve climate change are not understood very well (like clouds), there are variables that are unknown. According to the scientific method, you cannot go any further if you cannot control and account for all the variables, and thus a theory cannot be proven or disproven.
The theory of AGW bypasses the very first step in the scientific method.
Okay, so I’ll play along…onto the next step. The empirical evidence is not consistent with the results from the models. A study came out yesterday, which I’ll be covering in my next post that showed NASA satellite data revealing a huge loss of heat through the atmosphere and into space in the last decade.
The empirical evidence does not support the theory that CO2 traps heat, the essential underpinning of the AGW claim.
Oh and btw Big Oil contributes equal money on both sides of the debate, so they end up on the winning side no matter the outcome.
Al Gore does not have a science degree. What makes him an expert? He has your best interest in mind right?

Back to the climate debate:
The current level of CO2 in the atmosphere is 370PPM(370/1,000,000 = 0.00037), at the beginning of the 20th century it was about 300PPM(300/1,000,000 = 0.00030).
WOW, the industrial age increased atmospheric CO2 by 0.00007, in content.
Ever see a cloud? Oh wait, clouds are H2O, which is 200 times more effective a greenhouse gas. What? No single scientific study was ever performed to determine how clouds effect climate? Imagine that.
