Really, I’m not sure. I originally started a self-titled blog on BugSplat on November 5th, 2004. That only lasted about a week, and then one more post late in December, so I don’t think that should count. In June of 2005, I thought I would look to see if my site was still there. At the time I assumed it was like with a hotmail address, if you don’t log in for a given period of time, it gets deactivated. I assumed wrong, so I decided I would pick it up again.

On June 8, 2005, I wrote “Using the Right Words: Illegal Immigration.” It’s one I still love to read too. From that point on, I have stuck with it, but that was on my self-named site on BugSplat. Radioactive Liberty had not been formed yet.

It would appear that it was June 30, 2005 that I formed a new site that was supposed to be humor/satire/dumb stuff that I think is funny. The first post there was “President Resigns: Cites Low Ratings, Poll Numbers.” I then Imported two I had already written, “President Defends Dean,” and “There’s No Stopping Dick.” However, at that point the site was not named Radioactive Liberty, It was called something else. I assume based on my lack of readership back then, that if anyone does know what it was called, Mike could be the only one.

I decided that the name I had sucked, really, so I set out to come up with a new one. I wanted it to be a touch offensive, if you knew the real meaning, and weren’t on the same side of the political fence. I wanted it do have something to do with meaning “Our nukes keep us free.” So I came up with a short list, then I checked them.

Each name needed to be available as a dot com. It needed to be available on BugSplat, and most importantly it needed to yeild few, if any search results when entered in with “quotation marks.” I found out the “Radioactive Liberty” yeilded only 12 results on a gulagoogle search, had radioactiveliberty.com available, and was available on blogger, so we had a winner.

Unfortunately, I can’t determine precisely when the name change occurred. I don’t have any posts in the archives that announced the name change, but I do know that I was asking people to vote for which banner they liked best on July 28, 2005, so it must have been in the middle of July somewhere. In other words, I don’t even know exactly when the name Radioactive Liberty came into existence.

On August 23, 2005 I changed my self-named site’s name to Fitch is Always Right, the origin of the acronym “FIAR.” Th name came from JINW (J… is never wrong) telling me, “You’re always right, aren’t you? You always have to be right about everything.” Well, duh!

Finally, on February 10th, 2006, I moved both RL and FIAR together again on my own dot com, and the current version of Radioactive Liberty was born. In a way, it’s kind of neat to have all these stages to lay out. It’s much like an actual life. My conception in Nov. 2004. My birth in June 2005. Finding myself in July 2005, and finally moving out of my parents house in Feb. 2006.

So, I’m not really sure when my blogoversary is, you tell me. Happy blogoversary? to me?
