Justice has been done.

Great job to our troops, Bush, Obama, Cheney, and everyone else for their role in bringing this victory to fruition.

We spend a lot of time bashing Obama but Radioactive Liberty must give credit where credit is due: Osama Bin Laden was killed on Barack’s watch.

Amazingly, someone in the crowd gathered outside the White House held up a Bush/Cheney election sign in celebration.

But best of all, the war in Afghanistan is finally over. Ten years of chasing the guy that killed thousands of people has come to a fitting end.

Mission Accomplished.

I have a lot to say about Wild Bill and the fact that he’s being threatened with a lawsuit now. Almost too much. It’s taken me a while to figure out what needed most to be said, and I finally reached that point. I found the minimal amount that I can say and still make my point.

In my year and a half of blogging, I have given my phone number to three people that I have met through blogging. Three. Wild Bill is one of those people. Wild Bill is my friend, and that’s all that matters to me in this whole mess.

I have thousands of words to say about this detail, and that opinion, but none of it matters. What does matter is that Bill is my friend. I may get around to saying more at some point, and I may not, but I state to you today, William Kerr is my friend.

The only thing that will change that is if he does something to me personally to betray that.

I support my friends, and I stand by them. I hope you will help Wild Bill too and offer your support.

Thatisall.

Growing up, I didn’t have a great relationship with my dad. It ranged from virtually no relationship, to very bad relationship. He was a bit of a workaholic, and didn’t get home until 7PM or later most nights. Sometimes he even brought his work home with him.

He did coach my soccer team, and he was the starter for my swim team, so he did do things to be involved. I remember that he started coaching soccer because my first year playing, he thought the coach was terrible, and didn’t seem to have a grasp on anything with respect to the fundamentals of the game.

I can only guess, but I bet he was one of those “Everybody’s a winner” types. Don’t tell the children, but losing every single game sucks. And trust me, the kids know the score. So the next year, he was my coach. We had a moderately good season.

Dad was my soccer coach all the way through to 8th grade. After a few seasons, it was a travel team that I was on and he coached. Most years we were either undefeated, or darn near it. At any rate, under my dad, the team never sucked. Never.

So there was definitley some good, and I’m sure he taught me a lot of things that I just don’t even realize, or consciously remember. I do remember entering my teen years, and my bipolar disorder reared it’s very ugly head. No one understood what was wrong. Dad thought I just needed an attitude adjustment. That perception continued even after I had be (somewhat mis)diagnosed with Clinical Depression (it’s bipolar). I would think it’s safe to say that strained our relationship quite some bit.

It took years to figure out that my depression was actually Bipolar. In fact, it wasn’t until after I wound up in the looney bin. I still didn’t have much of a relationship with Dad at that point, even though I lived under his roof.

There came a point where we got into a fight (over the dumbest of things), an actual physical fight, the fist throwing portion initiated by me. In fact that part was only me. I would like to emphasise that. Well, the next day was the first day I didn’t live there anymore.

We went to a few counseling sessions together, and since then, we’ve had the closest of relationships. I love my Dad. He helps out a lot too. I couldn’t do it without Dad’s help. I don’t know how anyone could.

I think I have something in my eye. I hate that.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

Many are absorbed with a possible numerical “significance” of today’s date. I already dealt with that issue, but as STP points out, today is the anniversary of D-Day. I have only one thing to offer in return for the sacrifice made by the courageous men that fought, and thousands died. What I have to offer feels like just… Nothing. I have my eternal and neverending gratitude.

That’s all. Just gratitude. Thank you, to those that defended freedom. Thank you. It feels like so little. It feels… Just – not enough, but it’s all I have to give. Thank you.

Well, that about wraps it up for me for the weekend. I thought I would leave you with a blogging tip, though.

Basil, fromThe Alliance, left a great blogging tip for Thanksgiving, and I think it is just as apropos for Christmas as well.

First, you’ll need to ensure you have the following:
A computer
A family
A heart

All set? Good!

Here’s the suggestion. Read through it all first. Print the steps out if necessary. But follow them all:
Computer – Turn it off.
Family – Go spend time with them.
Heart – Open it to others. And use all of it to thank God for all the blessings you have received.

It seems sensible to me.

Merry Christmas!!!

“Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” – George Orwell

On this day in 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. President Roosevelt responded by immediately requesting a declaration of war against Japan. The next morning, Congress passed the declaration. We fought to win. It was costly, but we did win.

However, today is not about politics or policies. Today belongs to commemoration and remembrance of those who sacrificed for our freedom. Today I honor and give thanks to those who fought and died for freedom all across the world. We did not restrict our combat to just the nations that the enemy would call home. We fought in the Philippines. We fought in Africa and many other theaters across the world. We went wherever the enemy was, and we lost many thousands of men.

There are those who returned home horribly disfigured. There are those who returned home in coffins, and there are those who never returned home at all. Millions more contributed in their own ways, here at home. They sacrificed, by rationing. They did whatever was necessary to support the troops in any way they could, even though they didn’t fight.

Today I honor those people, who gave for their country, so that the next generation would not have to. Today I am humbled, and even humiliated by the greatness exhibited by an entire generation of American citizens. Today I salute everyone who gave so much to stop the destructive spread of evil that threatened to consume the entire world. I am in awe of their contribution, and I am sobered by the horrible cost of our liberty. I can only hope to strive to be as great as those that gave their lives, blood, and livelihoods, but I know that I will fail to achieve.

Today I reach deep into my heart, and I feel a lump in my throat, and my eyes fill with tears, because I know that all to often, I take for granted the freedom I have, and at least for today, I have dedicated myself to focusing on the great price that was paid for my benefit.

Today, I stand in remembrance of the greatest generation. From the bottom of my heart, I give my most sincere gratitude. Thank you. I am forever indebted to you.

Sincerely,
