Changes Coming To Radioactive Liberty

Radioactive Liberty is in a constant state of evolution. Don’t worry though, it’s not suddenly going to turn into a Leftard site.

One of the reasons that posting has been lighter lately is that I have a few big projects at home, but you don’t care about those. Another reason is that I have been working on some changes to the site. Probably the most time consuming of these changes is that the permalink structure will be changing to include the post slug.

Currently, the permanent links on the site start with http://radioactiveliberty.com/ and end with “?p=post#.” Soon, the permalinks will end with the post slug. For example, this posts URL will end with something like “changes-coming-radioactive-liberty.” The post slug is editable, but reflects the title of the post.

This means that I have hundreds of posts to write redirects to make sure that when someone clicks an old link, or the result from a search engine, they end up in the right place. It’s time consuming.

There are other changes as well. I will be moving some of the sidebar content onto separate pages. Links will also have a separate page. I am also looking through my past posting habits to, hopefully, work out a schedule that you can know what to expect and when. I don’t know how well that one will work out. I’m looking at making SAST [Short Attention Span Topics] a weekly routine, probably on Fridays. You could also Subscribe to the Radioactive Liberty Feed to tell you when there is a new post.

Hey FIAR you might want to checkout Dean’s Permalinks Migration plugin for WordPress. That should help you save some time.

Other than that anything you can do around here to make your blog not suck so bad would be extremly helpful.
