Thanks to the Jawa Report for this tidbit about how much our efforts in the War on Terror are just failing miserably.
The suspect, thought to be Saudi-born Abu Marwan al-Suri, was killed on Thursday close to the Afghan border.
Major-General Shaukat Sultan, the Pakistan army spokesman, said al-Suri was in a vehicle on the outskirts of Khar, a town near the Bajur tribal region.
Al-Suri opened fire when he was asked to stop his vehicle at a roadblock. He killed a Pakistani security official and wounded two others before he himself was killed.
His body has been transported to a hospital in the city of Peshawar for identification.
I don’t want to get too caught up in premature celebration, but it really is a damn shame that we took our eye off the ball with respect to the War on Terror by invading Iraq. It’s a quagnire, I tell ya.
One question though, is the fact that the source is Al Jazeera make it less credible, because it’s Al Jazeera, or does it make it more credible because why else would the propaganda arm of the terrorists report it, unless it were verifiable?

It’s hard not to be all giddy when hearing such news. I thought Jack Bauer killed that Marwan guy last season.

You had me at “Dead Terrorists - Yeehaw!” but lost me at “is the fact that the source is Al Jazeera make it less credible, because it’s Al Jazeera, or does it make it more credible yadda yadda”.
Maybe we should have just a few premature celebratory drinks while we ponder that one.

If Al-Jazeera reports it, we ought to be skeptical that the guy fought back. He probably fell on his knees begging for mercy…

Does anyone else find it interesting that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes named their new baby Suri just as we got this guy named Al-Suri?

I find it hard to get past Cruise wanting to eat the placenta. On a side note, do you find it interesting that Tom’s last name is Cruise and we will probably be shooting Cruise Missiles at Iran before too long?
