RL posts a blog entry complaining about how a stupid woman who happens to be a lesbian is outraged that some crypto-fundie won’t allow homosexual or lesbian matchmaking on his Jesus freak matchmakers website. Granted, the woman had every right to be upset, but attempting to pressure homophobic bigots to cater to you seems counter-productive, and indeed, psychotic. (If they at least advertised themselves as a conservative-Christian dating site, that would be different, but eHarmony commercials present their site as a secular, general-purpose service. That is very disingenuous, but if they came out as a Christer site, that would be different.)

eHarmony is not for (openly) gay and lesbian people. It’s for closet-faggot (and closet-dyke) red state Christian types who are too gay to approach members of the opposite sex in person but who live in communities where they can’t come out. So they need a website to MAKE THE MATCH FOR THEM and live in hiding.

Personally, I am not gay, but I just don’t see the fuss one way or the other. I think you will find that the overwhelming majority of straight guys like gay guys because they substract from the competition. For the record, I think the party bringing the suit is in the WRONG. What she should do is kick off a grassroots boycott. Tell all her friends; any homosexual, bisexual, or lesbian people, or straight people who are NOT homophobic religious nuts, that she knows not to pay for an overpriced Christer service. That is the right thing to do. A lawsuit is frivolous.

And for the record, the libertarian in me says that e-Harmony has every right to discriminate so long as they are a private organization.
