Wild Card playoffs weekend. Consider this an open thread on all games, including yesterday’s. Currently, Patriots vs. Jets. I hope they both lose.
Keep up to date on scores and results at http://www.superbowl.com/scores
Yesterday, the Cowgirls got sent packing, and Peyton “Guaranteed to choke when it matters” Manning didn’t choke yet.
Wow! Just wow! I’ve always admired the Eagle’s Defensive strategy of, “If we only allow them to gain 20-50 yards per play, we won’t stay on the field long enough to get tired.” Keep it up, fellas. There’s no way you can lose with an airtight strategy like that. Just wait until the 4th quarter when the Eagles defense is still fresh as a daisy. I mean, they might be down by 175 points by then, but there’ll be no stopping the Eagles then.
I’ve also long admired the Eagle’s Offensive strategy of going 3 and out. The other team will never expect it when they get that first first down late in the 4th quarter. Oh boy, oh boy! They just won’t know what hit ‘em.
49 yard plays by Brian Westbrook that result in touchdowns are going to make the Giants wary of the Eagles. How are the Eagles going to use the element of surprise in the last 2 minutes of the game if they don’t adhere strictly to the aforementioned strategies? If the Eagles keep this up… I don’t know but it doesn’t bode well for them.
Was that Peyton Manning throwing that INT, or did his brother just learn from the master? Brilliant! Sheldon Brown couldn’t ask for a more perfect pass. Right in the breadbasket.
Oh, they just said Eli Manning was second in the league behind Brett Farverervere in INTs. When Favrevvrevrv retires, we may get a new league leader in reliably throwing at least 29 INTs per game.
When are the announcers going to shut up about the offsetting penalties on Runyan? Hey, douchebags, basic football 101. You want a penalty to hurt the other team, you walk away. You respond, the penalties offset. You may “Not feel right” about the result, because you’re a biased butt-spigot, but that’s the way it has always worked. Ass Marmot.
Sheldon Brown breathes new life into the Giants with a terrible penalty on an awful throw. Bravo! BTW, am I the only one that noticed Burress’s hand in Brown’s facemask? Lucky for Brown the Giants settle for a field goal. Apparently Eli Manning is every bit as reliably crappy in the playoffs as his brother is.
That was funny. Brian Dawkins thought he was superman. They say Lito Sheppard has a dislocated shoulder or something. My attention span is too short to remember.
Heh. http://www.superbowl.com/gamecenter/recap/NFL_20070106_KC@IND
Peyton Manning knows all about falling apart in the playoffs.
Indeed.
Dammit! The Eagles need to stop with this stupid strategy of hanging on for the win. 5:30 left. Giants burned another timeout but are only down by 7. As a longtime Philadelphia fan, I know all too well the propensity Philly teams have for blowing leads. Grrr! Burress a first down at the 11. Eli Manning in for a TD.
I feel sick. Here we go. Typical Eagles football.
I want to puke in that retarded loser, Andy Reid’s worthless, most over rated coach in the NFL and worst coach in the NFL, disgusting, useless, fat, donut stuffing face. You suck Reid!
20-20 2 minute warning. Eagles First down, not quite in reliable field goal range yet. Too much time left even if they do score. Grrrr!
Brian Westbrook down to the 20. Giants use their last time out. Still not a win yet. Too soon to count your chickens. 3rd and 10. One minute and counting down. 21 seconds. Time out.
Fourth down. 3 seconds. Time out. Man, they are really making us wait.
It’s up and it’s good! Eagles win! 23-20
Next week. New Orleans Ain’ts!
Blinq has a good write up/roundup.

I hate the Patriots! I hate Tom Brady! J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!!!
I’m neither a Giants nor an Eagles fan. I just hope it’s good game.
Indianapolis didn’t just not lose, they throttled the Chiefs, and shut LJ down.
I’m so happy to see TO is no longer in the playoffs. I don’t really like the Seahawks either, though, so I hope they lose next weekend.
Did I mention that the LSU men’s basketball team stomped Number 12 U-Conn 66 to 49 last night? Good time to be a Louisiana sports fan these days.

It looks like the Jets are gay. Well.. Of course the Jets are gay, but it looks like they’ll be golfing next week. Hopefully, the Patriots, who are also gay, will be done after next week.

I’m an LSU fan. I’ll watch LSU women’s volleyball if I catch it on.
Yes, the Jets are gay. So now I have to hope San Diego is not gay, and Mr. Initial, LT the NFL MVP, can pile up yds. and the TDs.

I’ve always been baffled by people that watch college sports. First of all, I have no reason to support any college teams. I have no method by which to choose an allegiance. Second, I would spend most of my time being awestruck by the mediocrity of it all.

Usually people from areas with little to no professional sports are into college sports.

Am I the only one not surprised that no one with the last name “Manning” has ever won a Super Bowl?

I don’t expect that will change during my lifetime either. I shall quote the respected philosopher, Muntz, and say “Ha ha!”

Is this #12 Lard ass on the Giants really a QB? He looks like he wouldn’t survive one full set of downs at QB, without an oxygen tank in the huddle.

I know. I don’t feel to secure about a 7 point lead with 7 1/2 minutes left.

Aint’s? DId you say aint’s? I guess you missed that regular season game when the “ain’ts whipped the eggles.
The mediocrity of college football? What about the mediocrity of the NFL fercrissakes! The league has made it impossible to ever have another dynasty like the Steelers or Niners. Between Free agency, the salary cap, and all those pussy roughing and pass interference penalties that get called all the time, the NFL is not one to decry anyone for mediocrity. The NFL took mediocrity and championed it. They then named mediocrity “parity”. Isn’t it ironic that “parity” sounds so much like “parody”.

In case you didn’t notice, that was when McWorthless, the most over rated QB in the league was playing. Last I checked The Ain’ts only won by 3 points, and that’s with the worst QB in the league and the worst coach in the league going up against them.
Now that the Eagles have a mediocre QB instead of a horrible one, the Ain’ts don’t stand a chance.

And the coach doesn’t call the plays anymore. Yeah! That’s right! You tell him. (Yes, I’m trying to start a war…and not be in the middle of it like any girl does.)
HA!

Riiight, Jeff Garcia, the Savior of the Eggos. The fact that the Saints have a better coach, a better QB, two better running backs, three better wide receivers, and a mediocre, not awful, defense doesn’t factor in to your blind faith in the Eggos.
You sound like a liberal, ignoring all the obvious facts, and pointing to insignificances to support your support of a clearly inferior team.
McNabb isn’t the most overrated QB in the league. Michael Vick is. I’d say Daunte Culpepper is number 2, then Tony Romo, then Donovan McNabb.
Think about this. Garcia’s “thing” is being mobile, and scrambling. Michael Vick is better than Garcia is at the whole “scrambling” thing. Did you see what the Saints did to the Faclons?
Besides, the Eggo’s defense can’t stop Deuce and Reggie. If you can’t stop Deuce and Reggie, you can’t stop Breeze and Colston. You’re done, son, hang it up. The Saints will win. Bank it.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t make any Saints picks in my playoff fantasy football pool, but I did grab a couple of Eagles including Garcia. I spent years being disappointed in the Saints, and don’t have too much faith in them now. Sorry Fm, I gotta go with the Eagles in this one.

Boy, that’s gonna suck for you when your players only play one more game.
Let me stand here aghast at your statement about spending years being disappointed in the Saints.
*Best Jim Mora imitation* You? YOU!? Spent years being disappointed in the Saints?! Don’t talk about years of being disappointed in the Saints!
I spent all season waiting for them to collapse, but they didn’t. Now that they’re in the playoffs, with a better record than the eggos I might add, on top of the number one offense in the NFL, I can’t do it anymore. It’s smack talkin’ time!

Yeah, I am pretty surprised by the Saints season. They could only have ridden the Katrina (*distasteful mataphor alert*) wave for so long, but they will collapse like a N.O. levy as usual. They may make it close, and just get overtopped by the Eagles.
I am not overly invested in the Eagles though (I don’t think they’ll make it to the SB). I’m a little indecisive on the final picks for the SB. I guess I am just being a prick.

Ummm, I live thirty minutes from Tiger Stadium, and 45 minutes from the SuperDome, and you think I have no sports to watch? Never heard of LSU? How about the NBA? New Orleans Hornets ring a bell? Sorry, the eggos are going down.
