I’m not a Republican. I never have been. I probably never will be. I don’t give 2 flips about the Republican Party. I am a conservative. The Republican Party is Socialist. The two don’t mix too well.
Steve the Pirate says:
I am a Republican.
Okey doke. Tell us why you’re a member of the Socialist Party USA, Steve.
I believe in low taxes, a balanced budget, a weaker federal government, a strong military, a strong defense of the Second Amendment, and accountability in government.
Me too. The Republicans don’t though.
I believe in morality, freedom of religious expression no matter where I may be, the death penalty, secure national borders, and the traditional definition of marriage.
Fair enough. The Republican Party’s not going to advance any of those agendas though.
I do not believe in appeasement, porkbarrel projects, obstructionism, legislating from the judiciary, taxation, social services, and political correctness.
Here here! I’m with you 100%, but the Republican Party isn’t.
I do not believe in communism, socialism, Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism, or anything that isn’t free market capitalism.
Me either, but the Republican Party is all for those things. It’s in the manifesto voting record.
I do not believe the Democratic Party has a vision for America.
Agreed. Can we also agree that the Republicans don’t have one either? The fact is, there’s no discernible difference between Democrats and Republicans.
I do not believe the Democratic Party is capable of defending this nation.
Well duh! I don’t have much faith in the Republicans either. How long did they piddle around at the UN before they got some balls and decided we were a sovereign nation?
I do not believe the Democratic Party deserves a majority in any branch in government.
Agreed. Neither do Republicans.
I do not believe in liberalism.
The Republicans do. So why are you a Republican?
I believe in conservatism.
Me too, but the Republican Party doesn’t. Why are you a Republican?
I am a Republican.
You lips say “yes,” but your ideology says “no.”
And I’m damned proud of it.
I’m proud to be a conservative. I’d be ashamed to be a Republican. Not conservative=Not getting my vote. Period.

You’d better start caring.
IN the end, the Republicans are the only weapon you have available to defeat the Democrats, wich are a far larger problem than you are apparently aware.

Well, FIAR, I have to disagree with you some on this one. While I don’t believe alot of the republicans in office are conservatives. Conservatives have to take back the party. The party has strayed. We need TR’s “big stick” to knock their asses back in line.

Bithead, how are Democrats such a big problem when there’s no difference between them and the Republicans? They have the same agenda, the same rhetoric, and the same voting records.
I’m fully aware of how our country is moving toward that Communist agenda, and it makes me sick. The Republicans are doing just as much, if not more, to advance that agenda.
FM. The party hasn’t strayed. It was never in our camp to begin with. I say we beat ‘em all with TR’s big stick. Brutally and lethally.

Arlen Specter, Republican, defeated Pat Toomey in the primary because conservatives were more afraid that Harris Wofford, Democrat, would defeat him in the General election. Specter announced that it was a great victory for the “moderate wing” of the Republican Party. Nope. He didn’t take beating Toomey by the skin of his teeth as a message that we want a conservative agenda. He took it as a mandate to drive the country further into socialism.
Since that time, he has done just as much to flush our country down the toilet as Wofford would have.

I’m going with FM on this one. I think it’s extreme to be blanket against the Republican Party. While some say there are no differences because both always have to include the votes on the moderate side, there are a good many. To cite but a few recent examples…
Can you imagine a Democratic president cutting taxes as much as Bush has?
Can you imagine a Democratic president taking a preemptive strategy against Iraq to defend this nation’s liberty?
Can you imagine a Democratic Congress voting in relatively conservative and traditional judges to the Supreme Court or the federal districts?
Admittedly, the Republican Party is not all-out conservative, and it does have its social liberals and fence-sitters, but it’s unfair to call them as bad as the Democrats.

I see this country move further and further toward socialism. I see spending continue to spiral out of control. I see education continue on a path of failure. I see 70 years of socialism leading us on a path to destruction. I see foreign invaders welcomed into our country as it’s supposed lifeblood, in order to create a new slavery and dependency class.
You make some valid points, Blue Square, but I feel like it’s the same as justifying Tookie Williams as a great hero of the community, because he wrote an anti-gang book. So what? The evil far outweighs the good.
Do I paint with a broad brush. Yup. I always will too. It gets the job done faster, and as an American, I want the job done fast.

The only thing that makes Republicans better than Democrats is that they generally understand that we’re at war.

It already is, Foxy, and it’s Republicans driving us there. That’s my point.
Cranky. Ditto that. (first comment) That was sarcasm (second comment)

Just a demonstration of what I am talking about. Visit this link. It’s to a website that scores politicians based on how “progressive” they are. Look at my two Republicans compared to Mary Landrieu. I like Richard Baker. He’s been pretty conservative. Vitter, I’m not as happy with, but he’s still better than John Breaux.

Yes, there could be better candidates with more conservative agendas, but they aren’t stepping up to the plate. The Republican party may be dying out, but until the new ‘Constitutional’ party is getting the voter base, I will have to stand behind the Republicans.
Time will heal the wounds that Washington has caused. The nation will not stand idly by forever. When the time comes, those who are willing to take on the task of border security, out of control spending, and national pride, will have the backing of a grateful nation.
Have patience, FIAR.

you lost me somewhere at communism. I thought the extreme right were called…facist…you know the extreme right people who go to church every sunday and are then called the neo cons by smart liberals everywhere? I must say tis the first time I’ve seen the actual color red used to describe well….red. If anything maybe they are imperialist? yea sounds much cooler.
I can see how policys have shifted left but communism is a big step.(unless you gave em 50 years to pull the wool over everyones eyes) Sounds like something a moon bat would spout of …not callin you that but
BUT sounds like something i read on one of them nut blogs once.

I’m not falling for that one again, Cranky.
Sean, I will Reiterate, “as an American, I want the job done fast.”
Foxy, The Republicans aren’t on the Right. People like me are. The Republicans are Socialists. In fact, they ARE neo-cons, which means a Socialist that is hawkish on the military. It’a term designed by dovish Socialists to make the Hawkish Socialists sound like, are you ready for it, Nazis. It’s supposed to sound eerily like Neo-Nazi. The Democrats are Dove Socialists and the Republicans are Hawk Socialists, or Neo-Cons.
I need to go bark at the Moon now.

I have to agree with FIAR on this one…
Republicans have allowed the specter of not getting elected to cloud the conservative platform they so often claim to be standing on. For instance, a true conservative would not even mention ideas like “worker program” or “amnesty” for individuals in the country illegaly.

I am a Republican and I’m proud to be one.
President Bush, John McCain, and pretty much every single other Republican in Congress is what I describe as a RINO-Repub in name only.
Reagan, he was a Republican. He’s the Republican that made me a Republican. Just because these assclowns in Congress can’t find their butt from a hole in the ground doesn’t mean I won’t give up hope that Reagan Republicans won’t be elected someday.
There’s a big difference between politicians and people, like myself, who describe themselves as Republicans. Keep that in mind.
