Is It Time for a New Laptop

September 29th, 2006 by Fiar · 13 Comments ·

I mentioned that my wireless card broke, so I was thinking that maybe it was time to break down and get a new laptop. I took a picture, so you can judge for yourselves. I should also point out the one thing you can’t see: the cd-rom drive doesn’t work.

Please note the many important features my laptop has, should you decide you want to buy it from me.

do I need a new laptop?
Dude! I got a Dell. Is it time for a new one?

There are many key elements to the laptop, such as the Quick2Start™ hand crank with comfort grip handle, the SpeedCool™ smokestack - Crucial for those exploding Dell batteries, but I don’t need to tell you that, and the broken hinge on the right. The smoke you see billowing from the smokestack indicates that it’s working correctly.

Don’t forget the power supply, the laptop won’t run longer than one of those rides you put a quarter in and it vibrates momentarily without a power supply. I don’t know if you can tell or not, but the power cord is taped into just the right position to keep the juice flowing.

Umm…when my Dell laptop imploded last weekend, I bought a new desk-top computer. I’ll have two once the Dell is fixed.

Oh…yep…buy a new computer. That new car smell is nice.

I’ll buy the old one. I’ll just have to find a way to modify it so that it can be powered by a hampster-wheel and it’ll be perfect.

Pay me $10 and I’ll take it.

I was at my father in law’s today, and he just got one of the macbook pro’s. The thing is pretty frickin’ sweet. Of course, he did say he paid 2 grand or more for it, so it’ll be a long time before I get one. I built my desktop for about 1500, and I assure you it’s faster than his macbook, but still, it’s pretty sweet.

If I didn’t have a new, widescreen laptop that’s NOT a Dell, I’d snap it up.

Well, maybe not. It’s a Dell. I hate Dell.

How about I come up there, mash on it a bit with a hammer, and you buy me a beer?

  • 8 fmragtops // Oct 2, 2006 at 3:42 pm

That sounds like a great idea, jt! I say I come up there, me and you take turns shooting at it, and FIAR buys both of us a beer!

Pick me up on your way through…

  • 10 von // Oct 3, 2006 at 9:24 am

I’ll come too, and you can all buy me a beer or twelve, and I’ll watch.

Blogger get together - Awesome. You guys show up here and I will provide the beer.

I don’t like laptops. The keyboards all suck, even the best of their keyboards suck (Thinkpad) compared to an old 1987 vintage IBM PS/2 101 (which I’m typing on).

A few beads of PL-400 construction adhesive on the bottom will keep it from vibrating. The table may dance around the floor, but the laptop will be firmly attached to the table ;->

    New Laptop!…

Of course you remember that I had lamented the need for a new laptop.
