“It was… one of the worst days of my life,” said a visibly shaken Vice President Dick Cheney, in an interview with Fox News’ Brit Hume Wednesday. He spoke at length about what is being called “The bird-shot heard ’round the world.” Source
Over the weekend the Vice President “accidentaly” shot 78 year old Harry Whittington in the face, neck, and chest with some unexpected spray, while attempting to relieve himself during a quail hunting expedition.
Some have questioned the timing of the “golden shower,” calling it a ruse to distract from more important issues such as Plamegate, the Abramoff scandal, and the NSA’a evesdropping on every single American citizen’s phone calls.
Others believe it to be a message directed at Scooter Libby: “Watch what you say Libby, or I’ll p*ss on you too.” In yet another twist to this strange incident is the discovery of a urine stained blue dress shirt that reportedly belonged to Whittington.
Many are upset over issues of secrecy revolving around the event. Jim Manley, senior adviser to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. said, “these guys have taken secrecy to a whole new level.” Adding further insult to injury is the fact that Cheney agreed to be interviewed by the popular Fox News Channel, rather than one of the mostly unwatched cable networks such as MsNBC, or CNN.
“If they wanted to keep the story under wraps, he should have agreed to an immediate interview on my network,” said CNN founder Ted Turner.
