“Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made. Spaceballs-the T-shirt, Spaceballs-the Coloring Book, Spaceballs-the Lunch box, Spaceballs-the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs-the Flame Thrower.”
-‘Spaceballs’
Obama-mania officially went nuclear this week, or as our former President liked to say ‘nu-cu-lar’ with the introduction of the Barack Obama Victory Plate.
Besides the fact that he peers at you through your peas and mashed potatoes while you eat, the commercial is over-the-top. A white family even smiles at the camera then Dad exclaims they ‘never thought this day would come‘.
What day is that, the one where their white guilt was purged or the one where merchandising finally went too far?
Has it gone far enough though? What else do the merchandisers have in store for us?
Obama Commemorative Ponytail
Barack doesn’t have a ponytail? No but he is the most liberal member of Congress and now he’s in charge of the entire country. His Vice-President is the third-most liberal! Nothing shows your support for a moonbat administration more then a ponytail. Comes in your choice of brunette or salt/pepper colors.
Obama Commemorative Coin
With all the talk of change and the inevitability that our taxes will shoot up, Americans will be forced to use more coins to pay for things like food and gas in the future. You will feel like the proud American you now are by using Obama coins to purchase goods and services.
Obama Commemorative Kleenex
The years of an extremely liberal Presidency will bring tears to everyone’s eyes, especially when they realize purses and wallets will become obsolete. Feel the comfort of Obama’s face wiping away the sadness.
Obama-mania has risen to such an insane level merchandisers are including images of Martin Luther King Jr. which is a no-no according to the head of the King Center:
“Some of this is probably putting food on people’s plates. We’re not trying to stop anybody from legitimately supporting themselves,” he said, “but we cannot allow our brand to be abused.”
Actually it is more like putting plates under people’s food. That’s merchandising for you.

A co-worker suggested toilet paper but I thought it was too easy.

I’m well known for taking the easy, cheap shot.

You know me, I like more of a challenge. Not that there is anything wrong with cheap and easy shots, especially when politicians keep throwing a breaking ball right into our wheelhouse.
“It’s back…way back…and that ball is outta here! I don’t get it Jim, the Senators just keep giving humor writers pitches to hit.”

Time for another easy shot:
I can’t understand why the voters are leaving them in the game when they clearly have nothing left.

At last Barack is vindicated from those vicious socialist allegations. He is revealed as a capitalist’s dream come true…perhaps wet dream cum true even.
btw - not the former nucular president - he is the Still-President Bush until January 19th.

David, In spite of my repeated attempts to inform you that we do not think of Bush as a conservative, by any stretch (and it would be a gigantic stretch) of the definition, the fact that we do not consider Bush to be a conservative seems to continue to escape you.
How is Obama a capitalist’s wet dream. Or are you confusing corporate welfare, which we are against, and is neither free market not capitalist, with capitalism?
Go back t Kos and find some new talking points. The old ones were always wrong to begin with. Now they’re wrong and outdated.

I have an Obama action figure. It’s posable and almost lifelike — if Obama were 6 inches tall and wearing clothes made of resin. I keep it next to my unauthorized Martin Luther King, Jr. action figure. But what I really want is a “Palin — 2012″ Tshirt. (that was a hint to Santa)

My dear Fiar…I don’t think I made any claims regarding the conservative credentials of the current Republican President. I only noted that he is not the ‘former’ president…he is the still-president. I don’t dispute his credentials as a conservative….I would be willing to question his role as the head of the GOP and wonder why my father’s GOP has abandoned the historical credentials of balanced budgets, small deficits and keeping government out of the homes (including bedrooms) of the citizens.
May I say that the political figure that serves as the topic of capitalistic propaganda for creating products for sale in the marketplace is the fuel, for marketing purposes, and as such, is a capitalist’s valued tool as a subject matter and valuable to said merchants. Thus…the impetus for marketing of plates, buttons, hats, general shit, that the capitalistic marketers depend upon.
Ok, maybe it is not the “philosophical’ dogma but it is definitely the substance that the marketing wing of the capitalistic crowd which depends upon selling and such as. Blah, blah, blah.

Yes technically Bush is still President but for all intents and purposes he is irrelevant at this point.
In everyone’s minds Bush is ‘former’ not ‘present’ regardless of dates.
Do you always take things so literally?

The thing is most of this crap they are peddling won’t sell. The only people that buy this stuff are the ones putting the Victory Plate on their mantle in the living room of their timeshare condo while arguing over which Billy Mays product they liked the best.

>>>Do you always take things so literally?
No, yes and maybe. just depends.
Mr. Bush is still willing to veto.
Chris C -I have no interest in buying said crap. However, the capitalistic merchants, God bless their hearts, are joyous over the opportunity to make/print/fabricate the “stuff” for mass consumption….or should I say stuff for the consumption by the masses.
I challenge the non-salability issue - I still see some Ronnie and Nancy crap in some homes, although not the same homes that still have the JFK and Jackie O stuff.
yep - it will sell. and isn’t that the goal of consumer capitalism that fuels American business???
Cheers

Mr. Busho is still willing to veto.
Are you sure he knows that the President has that power?

And I’ve been calling Obama “President Obama” since July 21, when he made the 8-10 years comment.
Chris, I think David is correct. The Obama merchandise will sell. My wife told me her mom had a Nixon plate. I didn’t believer her until I found it while cleaning up the attic one day, and personally threw it out.

Oh yes, the Obama merchandise will sell! I saw a woman at the store staring longingly at the Obama family on the cover of US magazine the other day. It was like she was in a trance.
And Obama announced he may authorise more stimulus checks next year. I am going to use mine to buy loads of Obama plates. Either that or donate it to the Hillary Clinton campaign. I hear she’s strapped for cash.

I tend to avoid buying things that come with certificates of authenticity.
It is way too easy to forge such a certificate.
