The Obama 58 states controversy has reignited, but this time the focus on one the 57 states he claims to have visited. This is being combined with the Obama is a muslim canard.

Remember the ’57 states’ controversy from the Democratic primary? In case you need to be refreshed, Obama thought he needed to visit 57 states to win the election. The problem is that the United States only has 50 states.

The resurgence may have been sparked by a caller on the Rush Limbaugh show:

Rush, I’m not a conspiracy theorist like Oliver Stone, but I also believe in the anology that where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and I’m just wondering how many gaffes that Obama is going to have make before we know his true religious leanings. I’m going to refer to 57 states, okay, several months ago when he made reference to visiting 57 states, I Google 57 and up comes the 57 Muslim states. And then the other night we were watching Fox, and they showed an excerpt of George Stenophoulos’s (sic) interview with Obama when he said, “My Muslim faith.” Well, Rush, I’ll tell you what, I came right out of the chair, and I never heard what George Stenophoulos said in response to that until I was listening to your program yesterday. RUSH: He hasn’t been spotted in a mosque. He’s been going to Jeremiah Wright’s little hellhole up there in Chicago where they preach a bunch of hatred and stuff, but it’s not a mosque.

Note that Rush is NOT buying into the idea that Obama is a Muslim. I don’t know who’s dumber, the right wing nuts that think we need a better reason to hate Obama than the fact that he’s a harcore Socialist, or Obama, who makes Bush look like the freaking class valedictorian.
