Tommy Denton makes an excellent argument regarding the Second Amendment, in the Roanoke Times:
No matter how much mayhem and tragedy may be caused by gun violence in the United States, such costs are more than an acceptable trade-off for many people who are determined to preserve “the right to keep and bear arms.”
No matter how many emotional appeals to stop the violence — like the somber ringing of a bell 80 times at a vigil in Richmond last January to mark the 80 deaths of Virginia children by gun violence in 2005 — the sacred Second Amendment pre-empts the naïve notion that regulating the proliferation of firearms in civil society serves the greater purpose of public safety and ordered liberty.
That is one of the mistakes a lot of people make — believing that unrestricted gun ownership is the most free, when in fact, managed firearms ownership is actually the freer gun ownership. The right to keep and bear arms is enhanced by regulation.

Well sir I do believe you are at the very least as clueless as Denton is…
The rampant hypocrisy of this position you and Denton have is beyond description…
Where were the bell tolling hysterics for the
children die in bicycle accidents each year than in gun accidents, more children die in fires each year than in gun accidents, more children die each year in motor vehicle accidents than in gun accidents. In fact, 2,900 children died in car accidents compared to only 30 under 4 years old and 170 from 5 to 14 years old who died in gun accidents during the same period?

I guess even the hard lessons in life don’t teach liberals anything at all, right?

Hi… I’m from Canada. We decided a few years ago that shooting each other was a bad idea and guns in cities are STUPID. So we stopped.
And people don’t get shot anymore.
It works really well

Great work, Commietard! You’ve managed to sum up in 2 sentences what people have written thousands of words to illustrate. Gun advocates like myself owe you a debt of gratitude.

Yeah, because gun laws stop crazy people from harming others in any way that they can. Oh and the mayor of Nagasaki wasn’t killed by a gun, right?
Hmm…here’s an analogy. Hockey took away a lot of the fighting, then the players starting going after each other with their sticks much more harshly. Following that, the players started wearing more protective gear to ward off the sticks…the NHL made lots of rules, too. However, now the players hit each other in any way possible.
You can take away all the guns you want. There will always be illegal guns used in crimes. If a crazy person wants to kill he/she will, gun or not. They will find a way…it is what fuels them. They have no concern for human life. Get it?

Flowers, I like your style. My wife is constantly telling me that the pleasures of conjugal love are only enhanced by infrequency. The same thing with dinner being on the table on time.
If only we could enact your ideas, the whole world could enjoy the same marital bliss that I do.
Bravo.

I’m from Canada too. Actually, about an hour from where you are, but how did you get into that alternate dimension where shootings don’t happen in Canada?
