RL Report: 2010 Manchester NH Tax Day Tea Party Rally

April 16th, 2010 by Chris C · 14 Comments ·

Another Tax Day, another Tea Party rally. And what a good one it was in Manchester, NH Thursday.

Update: I planned on having time Friday afternoon to finish the recap but I got called into work so I had to rush to get it done. In my haste I completely forgot to give a huge huge shout out.

Skip I apologize for the unintentional slight. No matter the reason though, I screwed up.

For those who do not know him Skip is Skip Murphy, the man behind Granite Grok and also one of the NH Tea Party Coalition founders. He invited all of us conservative NH bloggers to Bloggers Row and coordinated everything. He set us up with tables, electricity, and introduced us to various state politicians and candidates.

Thank you Skip and Granite Grok for all the hard work you put in both for the event and making Bloggers Row happen. It is greatly appreciated.

The Republican candidates for the various offices they are running for made their presence known at the event, and more then just signs. They were out meeting people, shaking hands, kissing babies.

I kid about the kissing babies part because I don’t think anyone does that anymore. Do they?

Entrepreneurs were shopping their wares…

The crowd was attentive…

But clearly not happy with the current state of governmental affairs…

Gee, I wonder why they are angry? Why does that young man in the front row look so worried?

Oh yeah. Right.

NH Governor John Lynch looks worried that I am giving him the thumbs down and with good reason. I am one of the people who will be voting him out of office in November.

I really thought he was a lot taller too.

Another dig at NH politicians. You can’t see it in this picture but both Shea-Porter and Hodes have googly eyes.

It also looks like Obama’s plan to capture the youth vote is not going according to plan.

There I am representing Radioactive Liberty and Angry Seafood on Bloggers Row. Alongside me were: America’s Watchtower, Citizens for Reasonable&Fair Taxes-Croyden, ConChrist, GilfordGrok, Libertarian Leanings, News from the Northwoods, NH Insider, NH Watchdog, No Looking Backwards, One Voice In Gilford, Pun Salad, RedHampshire, TBONH, The Blogging Councilor, Weekend Pundit

That’s a lot of bloggers. Visit them. Check out what they had to say about the rally.

On the left and right sides of the display are political humor pictures. In the middle is a picture of Obama as Capt. Obvious with an empty word balloon.

Yup, it’s an old-fashioned caption contest. People at the event gave their quotes on post-it-notes.

I got to meet Karen Testerman, who is running for NH Governor, Ovide Lamontagne who is running for U.S. Senate, and Jeanie Forrester who is running for State Senate.

I’ve got a lot more pictures along with a recap video to show in a follow-up post here later this weekend and over at Angry Seafood. And I’ve got a round-up of what the other NH bloggers had to say on tap as well.

I’ll also have a wrap-up on my thoughts about the difference in this year’s Tea Party rally coming up as well over at Politics DMZ.

Hey, where are the Live Free Or Die signs? No one is open carrying! Is NH weakening already? I am depressed. But GO TEA PARTIERS!

Hey, where are the Live Free Or Die signs? No one is carrying! What happened in NH since last year? It looks like California on a winters day.

Check my latest post at sideshowmirrors about freedom vs. socialism from an ancient speech by a left hated politician (who was not a crook). (click my name, I don’t get that link/word thing)

Chris, dude what’s up with that ratty hoodie? You hiding a mullett under that hat? I realize you put the effort into going to a Tea Party, and I didn’t but c’mon, don’t go in yer jammies! You could fit right in next to FIAR on that street corner where I saw him last week. (I am joking. Wear what you want and keep up the good fight)

Chris, you da man! Appreciate you coming and lending your humor to the day! Thank you for the kind words – and not to worry, we’re still friends and will be better ones in the future!

We WILL wreak havoc on all Progressives and Libs here in the Live Free or Die state!

    Great post.

I had to work all week -like I should be complaining about that in the era of Obamanomics- or I’d have hopped on a plane to NH. Oops, forgot. I made the no fly list. All you other conservatives may want to check your status before booking a vacation. Don’t bother with Amtrac, Biden’s most likely got you barred there too.

@Eric’s first comments: There might not have been a lot of Live Free or Die signs but the phrase was said numerous times by the people speaking. There weren’t a lot of those signs last year either.

As for open carrying there were people doing it at the rally. Nothing has changed as far as the practice, just the MSM infatuation. This year I didn’t have to help defend my fellow citizen’s right to open carry so this is why I didn’t talk about it.

    @Eric’s second comments:

First of all it’s a sweatshirt not a hoodie. And while it is well-worn it is like an old pair of jeans. Very comfortable.

And as you can see by the pics my hair is way too short to be a mullet. :)

@Skip: Thanks for the kind words. I am more then willing to offer humor as a member of AS and/or RL whenever needed. It was awesome that you gave both blogs the opportunity to do so. :)

The Progressives and Libs have no idea what they are dealing with. They think they do but they seriously underestimate us.

    @Les: Thanks :)

It is probably the scary pic of you as a stone-looking-clown that gets you flagged on no fly lists.

@Eric – the LFOD, WE kinda take for granted (but there are Libs here that want to toast that motto – they hate all it stands for).

As for open carry, there were a few… As for me, I prefer to let people guess, if ya know what I mean…
