Microsuck has been badgering me to upgrade to Idiot Exploder 7 the last few days, so against my better judgment, I went ahead and gave it a try. It took a ridiculous amount of time, and I finally got to a part where it told me to restart my computer. I did.
…
…
“Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMYou can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select ‘r’ at the first screen to start repair.”
I can do what with the what now? What the Hell are they talking about? Why did they delete a file I need? What “Setup CD-ROM?”
Thanks Microsoft for deciding I should only have 2 functioning computers now instead of 3.
UPDATE: I think I’m screwed.

Go into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM folder and open a file named gatesis.god and edit line 52 which reads:
submit.to=”no”
it should say,
submit.to=”yes”
Then look for line 562 it looks like this:
insert {
orientation: straight;
}
make this change,
insert {
orientation: butt pirate;
backdoor-preference: >7in;
}
That should fix you right up. Your welcome!

He is a little off. It should read:
insert {
orientation: butt pirate;
backdoor-preference: >11in: 4in/dia;
}

I installed IE7 the day it was released on all the computers on my network and didn’t have a problem.

Wild Bill - You seem to have some “inside information.”
I have heard similar horror stories about upgrading IE. I switched to Firefox when IE decided to lock up whenever I searched for something on a web page that it coudn’t find. I guess that’s one way to find out: “Sorry, I couldn’t find what you’re looking for. Please reboot and try again.”

I use Firefox as my default browser too, but every time I restarted my computer it told me to “upgrade” to IE 7. I got sick of telling it to “remind me later.”
I should have not done that. Now my computer is useless.

You’ll find a solution.

First, it’s really odd to me that it was asking you to update to IE7 each time you rebooted. I haven’t seen that before.
Second, you need to do exactly as it says, and try to do a repair. You need your windows disk to do that. Put it in the drive, and boot from that cd. Follow the instructions, and do “r” for repair.

I don’t see how a browser install could have messed up a SYSCONFIG file…
And I agree with Von, get an install CD and try to repair it, or see if it will let you boot in safe mode and then unistall the browser…

You do use Firefox 2 now, do you not?
