Well, the Bonfire has finally burned out. As I remarked on Conservative Cat, I miss it already. I’ve thought about it, and I’ve decided to do something about it.

I have decided to revive the concept, and call it The Carnival of Ash or the Ash Heap or something like that (No final name decision yet). Unless I get the OK to take on the Bonfire name, but I’m assuming that won’t happen.

The Bonfire died due to a lack of interested hosts. I plan to host myself. I may grant the opportunity for other hosts, but the difference will be that no volunteers means I’m the host. In other words, if no one volunteers, there’s still a host for the week.

I’ve thought about hosting my own carnival before, but there was nothing that interested me that some one else wasn’t already doing. There’s already one for comedy, and satire, and worst post. Well, there’s no worst post anymore, so now there’s a concept I can work with that interests me, and isn’t already being done.

I realize that taking on a Carnival is a big responsibility, but I think I’m prepared to do it. I’ve hosted carnivals before, and I know how much work goes into the post itself, never mind the administration of the linkfest. I also realize it’s a long term commitment. Remember the COtV almost met it’s demise not too long ago.

If I go through with this, It will be hosted on Mondays or Tuesdays, I’m not sure yet. Another difference will be that submissions will be due with more time to spare. No midnight cut off to host the next morning. That’s a surefire way to insure overextending myself. It would more likely be 7pm Eastern or something in that range. You can still submit in the interim, but you’ll be the first of submissions for the next week.

I’m looking for input on this. I don’t plan to do it, and then have a whole 2 or 3 submissions. I need to believe that this will garner at least 15 entries per week to go through with it. If I feel like there’s enough interest, I will set it up as an official carnival, listed on the Carnival Submission form.
