I agree wholeheartedly. I succeed or fail by my own hand, not by who sits in the White House. I will find a way regardless. Eventhough I believe I can salvage more policy agreements with McCain than I can Obama, it goes beyond that. I believe McCain, even when he is disasterously wrong, is honest about his views. That I can respect. Obama is not.

That said, I still have very low expectations for a McCain administration. I’m under no illusions here.

Rich, as long as there are two choices, by definition, one will be worse than the other. There will always be a way to justify the fact that one is worse than the other.

Where do you draw the line? I have drawn the line at McCain. Perhaps you don’t draw the line until you are literally choosing between Stalin and Hitler, but I stop at McCain. I won’t support mediocrity. I agree with you on the effects of big government liberalism, and that is exactly why I cannot support McCain.

To do what it takes. To brush yourself off and try again. To learn from failure, rather than to be intimidated by it. To band together and do what it takes to improve yourself. That is what I believe in, and no politician can take that away.

I won’t support a candidate that has no difference of any substance from his opponent.

richj- I grew-up in California. I remember the Golden Days of Conservative Orange County, the wonderful era of Gov Ronald Reagan, the weird times of Gov Jerry (spaceship earth) Brown, the slide toward socialism and inclusion of all people into the Nanny State, regardless of legal status.

I respect the choices of those who vote. But I can’t help feeling that (at least for me)a wrong thing done for a right reason still isn’t wrong.

FIAR- I understand and am sympathetic to your reasoning. However, living in California, I have seen first hand how liberal politicians who wield unchecked power will destroy a state. While the Republicans at the federal level completely s#it the bed when they had the chance, I believe a Democrat take over of the legislative, executive, and shortly, the judicial will have devastating consequences for this country. I, too, used to believe that it didn’t matter which party held power, the country would make it through. I even believed that up until the last six months. My thinking has changed and I think we are entering dangerous times.
I respect your decision, but I too must vote my conscience. I see no alternatives on the ballot that I can vote for with a clear conscience. It would be refreshing to not have to make a choice between the lessor of two evils.
