When Do the Thought Police Show Up?
Apparently, researchers at University College London and University of California in LA have been using a fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to monitor changes in the visual cortex of the brain. Differences in responses relate directly to different images or colors viewed by the subject.
Dr John-Dylan Haynes of the UCLA Institute of Neurology said, “These findings could be used to help develop or improve devices that help paralyzed people communicate through measurements of their brain activity.”
The good news is, according to Dr. Haynes, “We are still a long way off from developing a universal mind-reading machine.”
Breathe a sigh of relief. The thought police won’t be knocking at your door… Yet.
