We need more stories in the MSM that actually pique the interest of ordinary folk, like me. Sure, we hear all about the UAE getting some sweet port deal, and Dick Cheney’s hunting accident, *yawn* but what we really need are stories like this.
Amsterdam’s famed red light district held its first ever “open day” on Saturday as its peep-shows and brothels gave crowds of wide-eyed visitors free entry to help shed the area’s increasingly negative reputation.
So, how did this just slip by, completely unnoticed? I haven’t heard on mention of this in the top of the hour news updates. Did the media not get the memo that we don’t care about all that boring political stuff *yawn* ? Here, I can fabricate one for you guys, right?
Harrowing reports of forced prostitution and human trafficking have caused a public outcry in recent months and even prompted calls from councillors for the 800-year-old red light district to be shut down, to the fury of many sex workers. Stories of petty crime and gang violence also dominate.
Wha??? I thought that legalizing prostitution got rid of all that stuff. That’s what all the Libertarians tell me happens when you make vices legal. But I digress…
Every night visitors throng the streets, agog at the scantily clad women sitting behind huge red-lit windows, but only a fraction venture inside.
Ahh! Now that’s what I call news! If outlets like the New York Times, CBS, and the rest of their MSM cronies would stick to hard hitting news like this, I might actually, you know, read the paper and watch the news.
Candy, a 39-year-old dancer from France, sat in her usual position behind the counter of the Banana Bar, joking with visitors and posing for photographs.
“People out today see it’s fun, that this is entertainment.”
Okay, a 39 year old French dancer. I’m starting to think this isn’t such a good story after all. Now I’m starting to get that, “Can I bleach my brain now?” feeling.
Oh well, I still think it’s a better story than the main headlines we’ve been getting. I also demand to know why this story didn’t get more coverage. I would have liked to see it at the top of the hour on Fox News, or the local news, or anywhere.
Now I must go I fire off that memo the the New York Times, and CBS.

Oh, just wait. I would love to see Rita Cosby live and direct from “The Banana Bar.”

It wasn’t news worthy—after all it did not involve a whippet at large. Surely you realize that a story involving a four-legged creature is front page news.

That is my kind of gal! This article actually shows that the claims might be false. It was not very well written, but they did open it up to dispel those rumors. I guess I am a bit of a civil libertarian because I believe in legalized prostitution and drugs. The prostitution works fine in Nevada. I would rather have a place for men to relieve their sexual tensions safely. Of course, I want the tax revenue as well.
As for legalizing drugs, I have no way of knowing what the impact would be, anymore than anyone else, until we try it. However, I know that the War on Drugs isn’t working and is costing us Billions of dollars a year. It is also alienating countries in South America, and putting tons of money in the hands of criminals and terrorists. South America is embracing Castro, Communism and denouncing the U.S. for goodness sakes.
